CEREC 3D

The CEREC 3D tooth restoration system is a remarkable achievements.  The CEREC system combines 3D computer aided design (CAD) with a milling machine and dental quality porcelain filling material to allow the dentist to create a new tooth for a patient in one sitting.  The most magical aspect about the CEREC system is that it can create full teeth, or simply parts of teeth that can then be cemented to your existing teeth.

The CAD component allows Dr. Frank Korody to design a new tooth shape that exactly matches the dentition of your teeth.  The CEREC can also be used to design fillings that fit into the hole created by the cavity.  It works by taking a 3D picture of your existing teeth and helping Dr. Korody shape a new tooth or filling to perfectly match your teeth and their bumps and lumps (which are uniquely yours).  The new tooth or filling is exactly shaped to fit your mouth so that the new tooth fits your smile and how you chew.

Once the design is made, Dr. Korody transfers the design to a milling machine in the back room.  A milling machine is a device that can cut the newly designed tooth from a block of dental porcelain or other material.  It takes the milling machine about 10 minutes to cut the new tooth, which can then be directly inserted into your existing teeth using a specially formulated dental cement (or glue).

Once the new tooth or filling is in place it requires a bit of polish and coloring to exactly match your existing teeth.  Once this process is complete the new tooth is indistinguishable from your old teeth, and unlike the old silver or white fillings is usually invisible to the eye.  The new or repaired tooth looks like all the old ones - that you even had a cavity or a problem with your teeth will be your, and Dr. Korody's secret.

The CEREC 3D system provides the most effective tooth restorations that can be achieved.  And Dr. Korody is an expert at using the system to rebuild your smile.
